    Statement:
I once held the Gestalt position that you have to support yourself exclusively and that to involve others in your healing was somehow less than 'kosher.' I don’t believe that any more. We are social beings who need one another. True, you must initially learn to provide for your own needs and to love yourself unconditionally. From that position, you can then invite other people into your life to assist you in filling in the blanks of your history, to join you in finishing your unfinished business, and to applaud and support you as you move on; in short, to grow into a healthy interdependence. I often think of the biblical phrase, “When two or more are gathered together, there is God.” When I apply this to what we are doing in the workshops, it’s so clear that when two or more are gathered together with the intention of love and healing, there is there is transformational power far beyond what any individual in the room could create on his or her own. From where I sit, I know our work together is holy, and I am privileged to serve as facilitator.
